Trail Running Portes du Soleil

Discover cross border trails for walkers, runners and fell runners in the Portes du Soleil !

F
or summer 2017, the Portes du Soleil resorts which straddle the border between France and Switzerland have created a network of trails for all to enjoy within the largest connected area of Europe.
Running between France and Switzerland around the peaks of the Chablais Massif, it is now possible to enjoy running along high altitude and mountain trails with 48 marked trails to explore.

For beginners or experienced runners, the PDS lift system can take you effortlessly up to high mountain trails. Whether ascending or descending, let the lifts handle the steeper gradients and enjoy easy access to the mountains and high altitude trails. With a PDS Multi-pass in your pocket and PDS trail running app installed on your smart phone this summer you can find that Less stress and more fun” is your starting gun !

Some local trails in our resort:

41 green circuit: From Télécabine Panthiaz to Chalets de Barbossine and return
This is a little route which returns to Châtel, it is not too long or too difficult for beginners.

45 green circuit: Abondance to La Chapelle d'Abondance along the Dranse riverbank trail
An easy path to La Chapelle d’Abondance. This trail is very easy with only slight elevation changes. It is possible to combine this trail with the 44 red trail into an 18km red circuit. This trail provides a great place for trail and fell runners to become acclimatized to running at 1000 m altitude.

42 blue circuit: Lac D’Arvouin
This is a stunningly beautiful blue trail, offering progressive gradients and a significant climb – suitable for race training and those looking for a more challenging trail. The trail rises progressively to reach the beautiful Lake of Arvouin, where the brave may continue on to climb to the peak of Arvouin, giving access to another high mountain running trail with exceptional views.

44 blue circuit: Abondance to Plaine Joux
This blue trail from Abondance runs through the Mont de Grange forest. It can be combined with the No. 45 circuit to make an 18km red loop. The trail is not easy as it entails moderate gradients, but it is not very long, so the trail will suit the regular runners who wishes to challenge the mountains.

43 red circuit: Sentier du douanier (The customs officer trail)
A challenging red circuit along mountain ridges, with far greater height, and from the peaks offers views over Aigle, Montreux and Lake Geneva.
